Accountability : Each member of your team should be accountable for successful team collaboration. He or she should know what is expected of him or her and that others are counting on them to get it done.

Transparency : Transparency between team members is crucial to team collaboration, to establish trust and facilitate honest relationships. When your team members fail to trust one another, it results in uncomfortable work environments and consequently, poor work quality. There are three tell tale signs of bad team transparency: Members don’t speak up in groups or meetings, Members don’t challenge others, and Members struggle to understand each other.

Teamwork: Team members should be motivated by a common goal or mission. When the workload becomes too much, every worker should be able to turn to a fellow worker to lend a hand.

Strong Values : Your company should have a strong value or mission statement, that will in turn shape the ethics of your team members. Your team needs to genuinely believe in your work, mission statement and goals. They need believe that their work is significant and meaningful.

Dialogue: Team members should always be discussing ideas, offering feedback, voicing their opinions and exchanging thoughts.

Less Hierarchy : Team members shouldn’t be afraid to voice their opinions to their group members- even to their managers or bosses. By viewing one another as equal colleagues, more team members will participate and you will gather much more original, interesting and insightful information.

With these components, combined with good online collaboration tools, your team will be on its way to optimal team, project and business management success!
